Networks of Expertise (NEX) was established as part of the broader re-design of Professional Learning and Development (PLD). The aim of NEX is to support peer to peer teaching through PLD, whilst also being innovative and sustainable.

With significant curriculum and assessment change programmes underway, the Ministry of Education seeks to reshape the delivery of professional learning support through NEX to align with the revised Te Whāriki implementation, Te Mātaiaho and NCEA Change Programme to harness the power of networked learning.

There is an opportunity for networks to provide peer to peer support for the current change programmes. With the current NEX contracts expiring at the end of 2023, the Ministry will be commencing an open-market request for proposals (RFP) process to source networks for 2024 onwards. All government tenders are posted on the Government Electronic Tender Service (GETS) to promote open, fair competition in the New Zealand government market. If your organisation is interested in submitting a proposal when the RFP opens, please ensure that you are registered on GETS and set up to receive notifications for opportunities in the education space.

A further update will be provided once a date has been confirmed for the opening of the RFP.
