The Ministry of Education is introducing a new approach to Structured Mathematics Professional Learning and Development (PLD) for Years 0–8, starting in Term 1, 2026.
Schools will have the option to select from a range of modules for their PLD day. Each module focuses on a specific teaching or content area within the updated Mathematics and Statistics learning area.
This change is designed to provide schools with greater flexibility, enabling them to prioritise topics that best meet the needs of their staff.
This is an excellent opportunity for teachers to:
- Strengthen high-impact approaches to mathematics teaching.
- Deepen their understanding of key concepts in the updated curriculum.
- Engage in practical, interactive professional learning activities.
