Professional learning and development (PLD) to support the implementation of the refreshed Mathematics and Statistics Learning Area for Years 9–10 of The New Zealand Curriculum will be available nationwide from Term 1, 2026.
The aims of this PLD are to:
- Strengthen teachers’ understanding of the refreshed Mathematics and Statistics learning area, including how learning progresses across the teaching sequence.
- Deepen teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge of key concepts for Years 9–10, with guidance on important teaching points and common misconceptions.
- Provide practical examples and activities that model evidence informed teaching practices that teachers can apply directly in their classrooms.
