We’re moving towards a more consistent system of training and PLD for teachers and kaiako. As part of this there will be no further rounds of regionally allocated professional learning (RAPLD), and all current RAPLD delivery is due to be completed by the end of this year.
Nationally consistent PLD opportunities will be focused on the Government’s priorities for education, starting with supports for implementing the updated national curriculum and the use of structured teaching approaches. We’ll also be introducing enhanced measurement of PLD initiatives, so that we can more effectively target PLD investment.
Schools and providers need to ensure all delivery of RAPLD is completed in line with the final report due date in your Statement of Works (SOW). For most this will fall in 2024, allowing schools and kura to have capacity from Term 1 2025 onwards to focus on new priorities, especially PLD supporting the implementation of the new English, te reo Rangatira, maths and statistics and Pāngarau learning areas.
