With the significant curriculum and assessment change programme underway, the Ministry is considering current professional learning systems and delivery models to ensure that support continues to be available to kaiako and leaders where it is most needed.

We saw a heightened demand for regionally allocated PLD hours in the 2022 Term 4 round.  We generally see this pattern each year as schools and kura begin planning for the upcoming year.

All PLD approved in the Term 4 round has been limited to a 12-month period - meaning it will be delivered in the 2023 school year.

By limiting PLD to a four term/12-month period, we can be more responsive to the evolving direction of the curriculum changes, the challenges kaiako and teachers are facing and the feedback we receive about the usefulness of our professional learning supports.

We will not be holding an allocation round in Term 1, 2023.  The Term 2 allocation round will continue.  Any adaptations to this round will be signalled early in Term 1.

A list of additional Professional learning supports can be found below.
