Proposals for the Term two round of Regionally Allocated Professional Learning and Development (RAPLD) closed on May 12th

Regional PLD Panels will be assessing proposals and making recommendations for the allocation of hours.

The Ministry of Education is working to improve the flow of PLD support to schools, kura and Kahui Ako.  In support of that you will notice that all proposals will have a maximum period of 12 months.  If your request was for a longer period, the hours will be adjusted at the time of assessment to make them consistent with a 12-month period.

We would also like to remind you about some important steps following notification of a successful proposal.  These will help your project start smoothly and avoid any delays.

  1. Identify local facilitators to support you achieve the outcomes in your proposal. If there are no local facilitators available, please talk with other potential facilitators as soon as possible.  They must follow a process with the Ministry to request additional support for travel.
  2. Allocate all your hours to your selected facilitator(s). It is important that you allocate ALL the approved hours.  This step must occur before contracts with the facilitator’s organisation can be put in place and before any work can begin.
  3. Activate your proposal within a term of its approval. Hours will expire if not allocated in this time frame.
  4. Complete milestone reports as close as possible to the suggested due dates.  Milestone reporting serves two purposes: 1) to report the progress of your PLD project in relation to your intended outcomes, and 2) trigger payments for the facilitators that are working with you.

No decisions have been made regarding the Term three and four allocation rounds.  We will continue to keep you updated as we make decisions about future allocation rounds.

As we continue work to improve existing systems, there are several actions we are undertaking for historic projects.

Your school PLD lead may get notifications of approved proposals being closed.  These are historic projects that have been completed or, in some cases, never actioned.  We are auditing these older proposals so that our data set more accurately reflects what PLD has been delivered across regions.
